Notice

NSF now requires institutions to have a RECR/RCR training program for faculty and senior personnel supported to do research, in addition to undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral scholars. Faculty and staff who have salary charges dated August 1, 2024 or later on an NSF grant will be required to participate in the Georgia Tech-developed RCR training, upon approval of the training by Human Resources. CITI RCR training does not satisfy this requirement. This webpage will be updated regularly as information is available. See below for Important Notes.

RCR/RECR* Training Requirements for Faculty

Georgia Tech's Office of Research Integrity Assurance has developed an in-house training video intended specifically for faculty. The initial course roll-out will be for all permanent faculty and staff who have salary charges on an NSF grant, dated between August 1, 2024 and the training launch date. Going forward, the training will be required for all permanent faculty and staff who charge salary to an NSF grant.

The training is currently pending HR approval. Until the training is released, as part of Georgia Tech’s Institution-wide Responsible and Ethical Conduct of Research (RECR) Certification, PIs are required to certify that the following RECR resources will be shared with all senior personnel associated with their NSF award and that they, and all senior personnel, will review the resources most appropriate for their role with the award, to include mentorship.

* NSF has changed "RCR" to "RECR" to emphasize the "ethical" component of the Responsible and Ethical Conduct of Research. Georgia Tech is using the terms RCR and RECR interchangeably.
